KHS Overture Awards Finalists
Each year the Cincinnati Arts Association hosts the Overture Awards Scholarship Program, a competition for very talented students in the creative and performing arts. This year, Kings High School selected eleven outstanding arts students to represent us at the Overtures. Meagan Shelton and Celeste Riddell have submitted pieces for the Creative Writing Competition. Submitting portfolios in the Visual Art Competition are Mackenzie Mettey, Emily Lavagna, Katy Hampton and Grace Ficke. Ben Baker will perform in the Instrumental Music Category. Performing in Musical Theater are Madison Kilgore and Morgan Reece. Bryson Wires and Elisabeth Jolicoeur will compete in the Theater Category.
All of these students compete at the regional level this Saturday, January 9. Semi-finalists will be posted on the Cincinnati Arts Association’s website (www.cincinnatiarts.org) on Monday. Students advancing to the Semi-finalist competition have a chance to be named as one of four finalists in their category. These students will be invited to perform at the Aronoff Center on February 27 and will each take home a scholarship.
