Project Excellence Teachers of the Year Lindsay Six and Sharon Preston

Congratulations to Kings High School Spanish teacher, Lindsay Six, and Columbia Intermediate School Intervention Specialist, Sharon Preston, who have been named winners of this year’s Project Excellence Award, sponsored by the Area Progress Council of Warren County.

This week, Lindsay and Sharon were surprised by the Kings Superintendent, Greg Sears, announcing their recognition and honoring them with a coveted Kings flag.

Every year, the APC seeks to honor two innovative or excellent teachers from each Warren County school. Community members and staff are encouraged to nominate teachers for these awards. Mrs. Six and Mrs. Preston will be honored at the 38th annual APC recognition banquet on May 7.

Mrs. Six has been teaching for 18 years – 17 of those at Kings High School where she teaches Spanish. She is the World Language Department Chair, a certified mentor for new teachers, a high school culture committee member, and co-adviser of the Spanish National Honor Society, Spanish Club, and RAISE team. Lindsay is also the assistant coach for the KHS Swim Team.

Mrs. Preston is a 32-year veteran teacher. She has taught at Kings for 31 years at Columbia Intermediate School as an Intervention Specialist for 5th and 6th graders. She serves on the Kings Professional Development Team and is a part of the KingsStrong Cohort. In her building, she is on the building leadership team, the MTSS Core Team, and she leads book clubs for the staff and community.

The Area Progress Council – a countywide private business organization – started Project Excellence in 1988 to honor and recognize excellent educators. APC solicited funds to create an over $1 million endowment for this recognition program. Since its inception, Project Excellence has honored over 650 educators and awarded $500,000. This year's honorees will be given $500 for personal use and $250 to their district for a classroom or district-wide project.

Congratulations Lindsay and Sharon! We are so grateful for your service and impact on our Knights!
