Kings BOE Approve November Levy
The Kings Board of Education passed a second resolution at their August 9 Special Meeting to place a 6.2 mill Operating Levy on the November 8, 2016 ballot. This levy will cost the taxpayer of a $100,000 home $217 per year, or $18 per month. Assuming that the district’s funding model stays the same, this levy is expected to last for three years. The district’s last Operating Levy was passed in November 2010. That levy promised taxpayers to last three years. Even with increased expenses, the loss of Tangible Personal Property Tax (TPP), and being flat-funded from the state, the previous levy has lasted six years, three years longer than promised, due to the District’s good fiscal practices. The message the District has received from Columbus is that if additional funds are needed to operate our schools, they will have to come from the local community.
